Google Is Merging Local Services Ads Into Google Ads This November - Here Is What That Means For You (And What We Are Already Doing About It)

In November, Google is folding Local Services Ads into the main Google Ads platform. If you run LSA campaigns with us, you do not need to lift a finger - here is exactly what is changing and how Brand Partners is handling the migration for you.

Google Is Merging Local Services Ads Into Google Ads This November - Here Is What That Means For You (And What We Are Already Doing About It)

If you run Local Services Ads (LSA) through Brand Partners, you may have seen an email land in your inbox from Google’s Local Services Ads Team. The short version: starting November 2026, Google is folding Local Services Ads into the main Google Ads platform. The longer version has a few deadlines, a few feature changes, and one key action item that - if ignored - could quietly change how your bids work overnight.

Here is the honest-to-God translation of that email, in plain English, from a partner who is already handling this for you.

Why Is Google Doing This?

For years, Local Services Ads has lived in its own separate world - different interface, different login, different billing nuances. Google is now unifying it with the main Google Ads platform so that every Google ad product you touch lives under one roof. In theory this means faster feature rollouts, cleaner reporting, and one dashboard for every dollar you spend with Google. In practice, it also means a migration - and migrations have fine print.

What Is Staying Exactly the Same

  • Your campaign settings carry over. Google will move your existing LSA campaign to the Google Ads interface using the settings you already have in place.
  • How you are charged for leads does not change. The criteria Google uses to classify a valid, billable lead stays identical. If you were paying for a certain lead type yesterday, you will be paying for the same lead type the day after migration.
  • Your business info auto-syncs. Business name, address, hours - all pulled from your Google Business Profile, same as today.

What Is Actually Changing

Three real changes to be aware of:

  1. One place to manage everything. After migration, the Google Ads website and app become the primary interface. The standalone LSA interface goes away - sign in to the old URL and you will be bounced to Google Ads automatically.
  2. Manual bidding and business-category-level Target CPL are being retired. You will no longer be able to set a different target cost-per-lead for individual business categories inside one campaign. Target CPL will now live at the campaign level - one number per campaign.
  3. Historical LSA reports will not transfer indefinitely. Google is giving everyone a window to back up legacy LSA performance reports before November 1. After that date, pulling the old reports may not be possible from inside the new platform.

The One Thing You Need to Know About Bidding

If your current Local Services Ads account bundles multiple business categories together (say, plumbing and HVAC, or pest control and lawn care) under one campaign with different target CPLs for each category, Google’s default migration will do this:

Automatically take the highest category-level target CPL and apply it to the whole campaign.

Translation: your lower-cost category may suddenly start chasing much more expensive leads, because the system is now willing to pay the ceiling price for every lead type in that campaign. For some businesses that is fine. For others it is a quiet, costly change nobody told them to look for.

The fix is simple: split a mixed-category campaign into separate campaigns - one per business category - before November 1. Each campaign then holds its own target CPL and your spend stays dialed in exactly how you want it. (If you run Maximize Conversions bidding instead of manual target CPL, none of this applies to you - carry on.)

What Brand Partners Is Already Doing on Your Behalf

Here is the short answer to the question most of our clients emailed us this week: “Do I need to do anything?”

No. You do not. Our paid media team is already running the following for every Brand Partners LSA account:

  1. Account audits. We are reviewing every active LSA account to flag any campaign that mixes business categories under a shared target CPL. If yours is one of them, we will restructure it into per-category campaigns well before the November 1 deadline, so the default “take the highest bid” behavior never hits your spend.
  2. Full historical report backups. We are exporting every month of your pre-migration LSA performance data - impressions, leads, cost-per-lead, lead types, dispute history - and storing it in your Brand Partners client folder so you keep a complete historical record even after Google retires the old interface.
  3. Bidding strategy review. As part of the migration, we are revisiting your bid strategy to decide whether Maximize Conversions, Target CPL, or a hybrid approach makes the most sense for your business under the new unified rules.
  4. Google Ads access alignment. We are making sure every client’s Google Ads login carries over cleanly, your billing stays uninterrupted, and your Google Business Profile is correctly linked so the auto-sync works on day one.
  5. Monitoring the switch. On the day your account is migrated, our team will be watching lead quality, cost-per-lead, and campaign status in real time to catch anything that drifts.

What You Will Start Seeing Soon

Over the coming weeks, you may notice three things on your end:

  • A monthly update from your account manager with a one-line note on your account’s migration status.
  • If your account needs a campaign restructure, we will send a quick summary of what we are splitting and why.
  • After migration, your login experience will change - you will now manage leads inside ads.google.com instead of the standalone LSA interface.

What You Should Not Do

  • Do not panic-email Google. Their general support cannot restructure your campaign strategy. Your Brand Partners paid media lead can.
  • Do not change your bidding yourself. If you touch target CPL mid-audit, you may undo work we have already queued up for your account.
  • Do not ignore the email. Even though we are handling the heavy lifting, forward us anything that lands in your inbox from Google so we can cross-check it against your account.

The Bottom Line

Google is making a big platform change. For most of our clients, nothing will visibly change on the lead-generation side - the phone will keep ringing, the booking requests will keep coming in, the cost-per-lead will keep behaving the way it was. The migration itself is just plumbing. We are the ones holding the wrench.

If you want a specific status on your account, reach out to your account manager - they already have a note in your file about where you stand. And if you are not a Brand Partners client yet but you run LSA and this email caught you off guard, book a strategy call. We will walk you through where your account sits today and whether splitting it before November 1 makes sense for your business.

One partner. Every Google surface. No surprises on November 1.
